Champion Lakes welcomed the DF95's from Wanderers and other clubs to sail by invitation on Sunday 2nd August.
Unfortunately the wind gods didn't get the email of the early start and while a chilly easterly breeze was blowing as sailors arrived it quickly faded away to a glass off by start time.
Eventually, enough of a north-easter came in to get the fleet of nine boats on the water but soon after race start it was evident that it was going to be a tough day as the breeze died once more leaving barely enough to complete a single race.
Nick Jerwood with his bright fluro orange DF95 made the best of the conditions with the race completed and the boat well ashore by the time the second boat finished.
It was a shame that only the single race could be sailed but absolutely fantastic to see the level of interest in sailing at Champion Lakes.
Until next time!
